Actor/singer/dancer/narrator –what the performer is considered in the theatre of the East—, instructor of actors, director, writer, translator, journalist and editor of books, Constantine Themelis acts as a decathlete in the fields of Performing Arts and Writing.
He works in Greece and abroad.
He was born in the small vilage of Flambourari, in Zagori —a district in the Municipality of Ioannina (north-west of Greece) and an area of exceptional natural beauty as well as rich cultural history—, and he is an Aromanian (Vlach).
Following his graduation from the famous high school Zosimaia School of Ioannina, he studied Physics at the Physics-Mathematics School of the University of Thessaloniki, Acting at the Review of Dramatic Art, classisal ballet with Jannis Metsis and jazz dance with Lili Berde.
He has studied extensively the actor’s training as it was developed at Jerzy Grotowski’s Teatr-Laboratorium (Poland) and at Eugenio Barba’s Odin Teatret (Denmark). Moreover, he has studied the intercultural principles of the actor/dancer, as these were revealed in the course of research done by the International School of Theatre Anthropology (ISTA, Director: Eugenio Barba).
He has worked as actor/singer/dancer in different performances — e.g. in Antigone by Sophocles (production of National Theatre of Greece), in Frogs by Aristophanes (National Theatre), in the musical The woman of the year and the musical film Akropol (below),
in The Cenci by P.B. Shelley, in Burnings (Aarhus, Demnark) (below), etc
What is more, he has founded Stalker Theatre.
For more than 25 years he has worked as a freelance journalist/interviewer and his interviews have been published in different magazines and newspapers, e.g.
in the Journal of New York City´s Museum of Modern Art.
In the course of the last few years he has been touring with what he calls
Confabulatores Nocturni / Night Narrators,
a web of musical performances and performances-narrations
as his artistic reaction to the Storytelling of the Liberal Totalitarianism.
